The creation of Regents Park and its surrounding terraces has been described as a grand scheme, by a great architect, in honour of an unworthy prince. The man who dreamt up this grand scheme was of course John Nash and the man he built for was the Prince Regent. In 1812 Nash published his first plan of Regents Park. His scheme was accepted in 1813 and work continued until 1825.

London was about to be transformed, a new concept in style and stucco, created by Nash, would be copied and reproduced throughout London in years to come.

In this apartment in Cumberland Terrace the client wanted to retain the Regency proportions of the rooms and to add period details such as fireplaces and cornices where these had previously been removed. The house, with lovely views over Regent’s Park, now has a modern light and airy feel without having lost its comfort and historic atmosphere.
